Lighting concept in Swiss Post's parcel logistics centre
Light for performance, safety and sustainability
Austrian Post has been operating a parcel logistics centre in Vienna-Inzersdorf since 2002. The ground-breaking ceremony for the new building took place in March 2022 and the centre was officially opened in April 2024. While the existing hall will continue to be used for deliveries, the new building is currently the largest logistics centre of its kind in Austria. The project secures over 1,500 jobs and creates more than 100 new ones - a strong signal for innovation and growth in the Austrian logistics sector.

What makes the project special
The dimensions of the centre are impressive: with a processing capacity of over 250,000 parcels per day, Wien-Inzersdorf sets new standards. Three specialised sorting systems and automatic unloading systems (AutoUnloader) ensure highly automated processes. At the same time, great importance was attached to sustainability: A photovoltaic system with an output of 2 megawatts, a green roof and an air-to-water heat pump for heating emphasise the building's ecological credentials.
Customised lighting solution for high-performance logistics
Molto Luce has realised a precisely coordinated lighting system that meets both the high demands of automation and complex work processes. Thanks to powerful LED luminaires, standard-compliant illumination and intelligent control, we offer a visually ergonomic environment that minimises accidents at work and increases safety.
Control and technology
The system is based on a DALI2 control system, which was used for TRAIL, FIT, 3ONE and floodlights. This technology enables precise, energy-efficient lighting control, tailored to the different usage scenarios in the logistics centre. The control system also ensures simple integration into existing building management systems and offers a high level of operating convenience.
Our lighting concept solves key challenges:
- Uniform, glare-free illumination prevents machine errors and increases precision.
- Optimised brightness reduces fatigue - important for long shifts.
- Intelligent control prevents overlighting and reduces energy costs.
- Reduced maintenance costs thanks to long-lasting LED technology.
- Targeted light control prevents shadows from forming on conveyor technology and in shelving systems.
All advantages at a glance
- Maximum efficiency in parcel processing thanks to coordinated lighting design
- Maximum automation and future-proof infrastructure
- Sustainable building concept supported by energy-efficient lighting
- Reduced energy consumption thanks to modern DALI2 technology
- Safer workplaces thanks to optimum visibility
- Long-term operating cost savings thanks to intelligent control and long-life LED solutions
